I had been loyal to Whisper Ultra since it was first available in my city, I don’t know how many years ago. Procter & Gamble first launched Whisper in India in 1989. It was a revolution and a God sent when it came into the market, though it has always been the costliest sanitary napkin brand. This is how I currently feel about it:

WHISPER ULTRA
  1. In the last few years I have seen a steep fall in their quality, and a steep rise in their price every few months.
  2. The Whisper Ultra Sanitary napkins are all the more 'plasticky' now, very uncomfortable and itchy to be used during summers as your skin just can’t breathe through it. Earlier it used to be better.
  3. The green disposal wrap around the pad just tears off into pieces while taking out the napkin. Earlier it used to be better.
  4. The used napkin mostly tears off while removing to dispose it.
  5. Being plastic like, it hurts and creates rashes on the inner thighs, and the plastic wings absorb less, making the inner thighs dirty.
  6. Worst, the perfume they have now added to it just stings your sensitive skin the moment you wear it, making it a very uncomfortable experience off late.
  7. The lemon/fluorescent green pad cover attracts unwanted attention when you carry it along while travelling.
I had been unhappy with Whisper Ultra off late and had no choice because no other sanitary napkin in the market did the job as well as it did all these years. Whisper Ultra has given me years of comfortable periods and I wish their product quality had not deteriorated. Anyways, I am happy to have discovered my new comfy friend SOFY Side Walls.

When I first saw the ad for SOFY side walls a few months ago with Prachi Desai walking the ramp in a white dress promoting this sanitary pad, I thought it may be just another low end bad sanitary napkin brand. One fine day, while browsing through goodlife.com’s newly launched personal care section, I happened to discover that SOFY is a product of Unicharm, a Japanese brand which also manufactures the bestest baby diapers Mamy Poko pants. The name Unicharm was enough to change my view for this product. I wanted to buy and try out this product at the earliest.

I bought it from a local super store, but I also bought my regular Whisper Ultra pack just in case the Sofy ones don’t live to my expectations. Whatever Japanese products I have used so far are simply the best, be it a laptop, or diapers or personal care or sanitary pads. My first use of this sanitary napkin and I was all praises for it and have been a convert to this brand for many months now. This is why:

SOFY SIDE WALLS
  1. The wrapper around each pad is beautiful cottony white, which gives you a very pure clean happy feeling, easy to carry in purse without inviting unwanted attention.
  2. The pads are super absorbent and very comfortable. As thin and light as Whisper Ultra. Don’t hurt inner thighs and keep them clean.
  3. Made of cotton like breathable material which does not cause any itching like Whisper Ultra.
  4. No useless perfumes added.
  5. Economical as compared to Whisper Ultra. I found promotional packs in a shop near my home. Just Rs 99 for a (15 pads+8 pads) combo pack, which lasted 2 months lavish usage. Even without the offer, they cost less than Whisper Ultra, so you can change pads every 3 hours, staying clean and dry, without burning a hole in your pocket.
  6. The Sofy pads are wider than Whisper Ultra and fit better on any style panties. Whisper doesn’t properly fit all panty styles/brands.
  7. The Large and Extra Large Dry Napkins are the best from the Sofy Range.

SOME MORE COMPARISON POINTS:
  • Whisper pad’s top layer has broader funnel points, so even thick clots get into the core instantly. But actually it takes a few minuters to convert that into gel and lock it, during which, the fluid seeps back and stains your genitals. SOFY pad’s top weave funnel seems to have thinner points. So clots take a little longer to get to the core pad, but the fluid doesn’t seep back and it locks quickly into gel, leaving you clean, dry and comfortable.
  • Both brands offer different pad lengths/thicknesses/variations for different women’s need, according to their body size or period flow. The Sofy REGULAR length pads are just useless even for a very thin woman/girl. They are insufficiently small. So DO NOT buy the REGULAR size in SOFY or keep them for the last days. If the Sofy XL size is not sufficient for your night flow, then the new Whisper Ultra Extra Heavy Flow night pads are your solution (longer and broader at back. I haven’t tried, so don’t know if they itch or not).

MY RECOMMENDATION:

To be honest, till yesterday, I didn’t notice that there is a DRY and a SOFT variation in SOFY. But I love the DRY ones.
UPDATE Sept 19, 2013: The 'SOFT' range of SOFY napkins have been discontinued in India. The DRY ones are anyways the best and they are still available.

  1. Thank you so much for your loyal review. It helped a lot.
And i totally agree with your current thought for Whisper Ultra.

And also thinking to switch onto Sofy Sidewalls just because its a Japanese Brand.

    1. Dear Archna, thanks for reading and for taking time to leave your feedback. Glad to know that you found this helpful. In fact, i was working on updating this article yesterday and found your comment just when I was about to update. Have added a lot more information for readers. Do re-read if you get time :) And yes, the L and XL DRY are worth a try. You would be surprised to know that this is the second highest most popular article of all my blog posts.

  3. Thanks for the information..I'm also loyal Whisper ultra user..and was not happy with it recently...and was thinking of buying it..and now I will..just one question..does the side walls of sofy stain too like ultra's and does it have both wings and side walls???plz reply...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Thanks for your question dear Prachi. Yes, SOFY has both. I have pointed out the wings in the above pic and the blue elastic lines you see on each side are the side walls. It is natural for wings to get stained sometimes, when pad displaces while sitting or moving, or during very heavy flow. But SOFY's soft and super absorbent wings do not let the skin stain easily. Whisper didn't protect me against back staining and had to continuously clean out inner thighs. Thankfully SOFY takes care of it all :)Do buy and request a free sample also using the above link if it is still working.

  4. Hi,
I'm 40+ woman.I'm trying sofy side walls,I felt the Sofy side walls also giving side stains.Because it is cottony thin cloth and couldn't bear heavy flow in 2nd day(also many 40+ women has some extra fat in inner thighs). Some how I felt the napkin is broad enough, only it needs a dry weave side walls which will not allow the leakage to side thighs.Thankyou

    1. Dear Mam, thanks for your feedback. It is impossible not to get side stains no matter which sanitary napkin from whichever brand in the world you buy. This depends on period flow and also body shape/fit of the napkin, like you mentioned. I completely agree Sofy is WIDER than all other brands I have used. The side walls for every napkin are made from the same material as the napkin. If they are plastic type like Whisper, they give rashes, and if they are soft like Sofy's, they absorb, of course it cannot absorb a lot. If they make side walls as thick as the napkin itself, it will not be possible to fold and stick them to panty sides, I hope you will agree. Still if you think there is scope of improvement there, it would be a good idea to email them with your feedback at customercare@unicharm.com. At least they will think about it. Finally, this has nothing to do with your age :-), we all get side stains on heavy flow days and most women have heavy inner thighs. Just use non-alcoholic skin wipes to clean during every visit to the toilet. Hope this helps.

  6. I had a very bad experience using Sofy side walls. I developed rashes with the first use. I cud not make out the reason. Later with the second time use now, I developed rashes on the thighs as well as on the back with terrible itching sensation. I had to stop using it and switched over to my stay free..... Worst experience ever. WOULD NEVER ADVICE ANYONE TO USE IT!

    1. Dear Anonymous, first of all out of courtesy I expect ppl to leave a name in return to the courtesy of me allowing them this hassle free way of commenting and sharing their views.

I am sorry to know about your experience and if Stayfree suits you, you should stick to it. This purpose of this and all other reviews is to share my experience of these products. What suits others may not suit everyone, and it is interesting to note that you are the 1st one out of 1200 Sofy post readers so far who had a bad experience with it. Happens and it's perfectly okay for you to share, we all have different skins and different hygiene habits. Regarding Stayfree, I have used it when Whisper wasn't there in the market and also right after pregnancy when the hospital provided only that. For me it was the worst sanitary napkin I had ever come across.

    2. I too got rash with sofy... Increase rash on 2nd day use... Like my skin erodes, with friction... Its a good napkin... Works good like old whisper...
      But not for me...

Stayfree worst... That polythene rubbing sound while walking... Upper layer tears off exposing the Cotton's out... And cotton get shrinked inside outer layer...

    1. Yes you should try the SOFY DRY pads XL size. They have really good absorption so you will not need to use double pads. Works for me in very heavy flow. The maximum you will need to do is change the pad frequently during really heavy days. It is not plastic-like, so doesn't stink. Can only stink if not changed for very long hours. Good value for money. No harm in trying one pack to see if it works for you.

    1. Hi. I hope you have recovered now and really wish you good health in the future. Most of the people just tried this napkin and then started liking it and never looked back :) Let's hope SOFY guys remain in their senses in the future and not over-experiment with the product like Whisper. Though it would be good they come up with a broader at back night pad so people do not depend on Whisper for night pads too.

I had a really bad experience of using Stayfree secure gel. It irritates like an emery sheet.
No other alternative in INDIA. except the costly Anion
    Pls advise

    1. Hi. You need not buy a very costly napkin. Sofy is really gentle. I and anyone who used it on recommendation found it very good. Do give it a try as it is great quality in very affordable price. No diaper brand used to suit my son. We used their Mamy Poko pants for my son and never looked back to other diapers after that. Sofy and Mamy Poko is same company. I hv used Sofy SOFT and doesnt give that dry feeling but Sofy DRY is excellent and very comfortable. Never got rashes touchwood. Stayfree gives bad rashes on inner thighs.

  11. Thanks so much and glad it helped! I haven't received my free sample yet as samples take some 1-2 months once promotion closes. I have stocked a few Rs 49 packs currently on promotion :) They are just too comfy and it doesn't pinch on the pocket anymore, touchwood.

    1. Hey I don't think they could be discontinued especially when the product is selling so hot. The same thing had happened to me in Sept, when I could not find it any shop locally and in the nearest cities too. Then our local shop restocked it and actually there was a promotional offer price slashed from Rs 65 to 49. Since the price was so low, shopkeepers were deliberately not keeping it because of low price margin. I will check with my local shop and let you know. In the meantime, why don't you contact Unicharm at customercare@unicharm.com or call +91-9971988339 and they will give you the details of local distributors in your city. Can you email me which city you are in?

Call and check for delivery options in your area. Hope this helps :)

    3. Your 1st reply makes sense... I'm currently in Gwalior for college education and we have "big bazar" "reliance fresh" n even "easyday" these stores usually have everything n a wide variety to choose from n when I couldn't find my stuff even here I was really pissed. For online shopping I like flipkart but I'll try goodlife too, but honestly I think its not about what customers want anymore its abt which brand can pay extra buks to gvt for a business in india. Entering India for business have never been easier. :( guess when international store like wall mart comes nothings gonna stop them from stalking their shelves with stuff that customer likes. Thankyou for your help n suggestions. ~ Sneha.

    4. I hear you Sneha and completely agree with you :) By the way, I bought SOFY 3 days ago and the Rs 49 discounted packets are still there in the fresh stock at our local shop. Honestly, these were always out of stock at EasyDay here, whenever there have been such good discounts (same reason: poor business margin). I still suggest u email them and they do provide a list of distributors/retailers in any city. I am sure some small shops may still be stocking them in Gwalior.

    1. Hi, don't worry. The dry one are not harsh at all. I have been using them for a very long time. I tried soft, they were soft but I always had that wet uncomfortable feeling. So I personally prefer the DRY ones. But since they are coming very cheap (INR 49 promotional pack) you can try one pack and see for yourself. It is definitely worth trying and you won't look back at any other napkin.

  15. Very helpful! Thank you so much. Just like everybody else here, I too have been sick of whisper ultra rashes now. Especially when I am traveling in this heat. I have a very awkward question though. I have been using whisper ultra even after reading this review because the religaire chemist shop near my house only has whisper on display. I find it awkward to ask them pads, the men always have weird intrusive looks on their faces. I only go to religaire because they have it on display so I can just pick it up, it's worse at grocery stores.
How do you get over this? It's embarrassing.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Sorry for the late reply as my internet connection was down for 2 days. Your question is not awkward and many girls or women may feel the same way. Fortunately I am very bold and matter of fact in this regard. What is it to be embarrassed about? Periods are a process created by God and Nature to keep our womb clean and there is nothing in a woman's body to be ashamed about. So there is no need to be shy when going to buy sanitary napkins or a brassiere. Both are for the body as given to us by God. I understand you may encounter cheap people when you buy from a general store, but if you go confidently and ask for it, they won't dare mess with you. I don't care if there are other men standing there when I ask for pads and at the most one or two may turn their head to look at me, but just don't give a damn. High end stores usually don't keep SOFY since there is a promotion ON and the margin is very less. If you can't find it or are still shy, buy online from goodlife.com or privyshop.com. Do check the shipping charges before purchasing.

    2. Thank you so much for replying. I will definitely try out some other shop in that case. I guess you are right, it will take a little getting use to. After all, I have to do this for another 25-30 years..

    3. You are right, you can buy online or try other shops. I usually buy a few packets and stock them up. I tell the shopkeeper near my house to procure the Rs 49 promotional packs when they go buy their stuff. But I recently found that the Rs 120 pack is now for Rs 90 (with 15+4extra pads ) with 19 pads which is even way cheaper. Let me know in case you face any difficulty finding this brand. And YES, it is a matter of confidence, which would be good to develop as it will help you in other things too in future :)

  16. Well, as it is with different people the experiences are different. For me Sofy side walls, the term side walls seems to be more protecting and less irritating i thought, but i dont find it that helpful when there is a heavy flow specially after post pregnancy which Whisper could offer. But after some changes in the product Whisper is performing equally bad. I feel Statyfree Ultra Nights stands a good chance in this. May be costly but its worth paying. with Sofy and whisper does not come the big size of the pad and yet slim which is helpful for heavy flow and long travels.
At times it seems they are simply allowing each other a good face and are unnecessarily harassing the females who are already not so happy during these days. Pls. club the possible comforts and reasonable rate and come up with some nice product in the market is what i wish.
    Thanks Sulochana.

    1. Thanks for sharing your feedback. It's great to know you have found your ideal napkin in Stayfree Ultra nights. It will help other users like you who can give it a try. The hospital had given me carefree and stayfree post pregnancy but at that time it was so bad I don't even want to remember it. You are right, all slim pads available in the market are meant for regular use and obviously not manufactured especially to handle post pregnancy excessively heavy bleeding. Whisper does have a very long napkin in the Ultra nights range but I have not tried it as I am happy with SOFY. Thicker side walls will result in rashes and from personal experience, you need to set the napkin straight a few times in the first half an hour so that it crushes in between the legs to a proper shape and not distort. It is the distorted setting of the pad that causes leakage. I am just a user who has shared my experience. Please forward your feedback to the brand at the email mentioned above.

    1. Thanks for your comment. The product is being manufactured in good quantity and the sale is also high but because they are providing at low rates, shopkeepers get less margin so they don't keep it. As mentioned in the article, you can contact Sofy at the email ID/their facebook page or call them. I am not associated with them in any way. Else you can buy online from Privyshop.com or goodlife.com.

  18. I've been a loyal user of Whisper Ultra for several years now, and then started developing irritation for a few months. I also suffer often from vaginal thrush, so the plasticky feel had made normal life impossible during my periods. I was so desperate that when I chanced upon your post that I went out and bought Sofy Side Walls immediately. It was SO much more comfortable than Whisper Ultra! It also offers better leak security. I don't think I'm going to return to Whisper in a while now.

All this is to say, THANK YOU so much for such an honest review! You have literally saved my life! :)

    1. Thanks for your honest feedback too. I have had people come and complain on this page that Sofy is not good and that they love Stayfre, and I highly doubt the authenticity of such anonymous comments, based on my personal experience. I am using this brand for close to 2 years and I still have one left over Whisper pad lying as an emergency pad in one of my bags, but never feel like even looking at it. I am glad it helped you :)

    2. I read through the comments, and I find I've had very similar experiences :) Stayfree was what I started my teenage years with, and it was UTTERLY horrible. At times I wondered why I even put it on because it was no better than a piece of ill fitting cloth. I don't know if they've improved their product over the years... People do sound very loyal to it now. I jumped over to Whisper Ultra and it was so great back at that time... I actually felt a bit like I was betraying them when I had to switch.

I admire you posting and continuing discussions on this subject. What I meant by an honest review was, it helps a lot that you posted pictures of the pads and discussed vital details like side leaks and clots. You've admirable candor, and you have no idea how many women you are helping! :)

    3. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your valuable feedback. I too started with Carefree and Stayfree came into the market shortly, but I totally agree they were useless. I started when I was just 10+ and it used to be a real struggle to save uniform from staining in the school. I have had my share of horrible leaks at a very small age, and I had absolutely zero guidance from my mom on this. She wasn't open enough to discuss or guide. So it felt like a blessing when Whisper appeared and even a bigger blessing when I found Sofy :)

I truly feel it is important to spread awareness on this so women today don't have to suffer like I or many others did in the past.

    4. Hi, I had posted comment here before, I'm the one who bought a big stalk of sofy side walls from goodlife.com with your advise, unfortunately goodlife.com is no more, they've shut it down. Oh well still sofy is my fav and I've recently bought sofy body fit ones. I'll try em soon lolz I never thought i'd say this but I'm waiting for my period eagerly hahaha This was not possible with other napkins NOPE! sofy is so much like whisper when whisper was new I remember the 10 pad pack of 65 bucks my mom helped me wear. And I was only on the search for a review of this body fit range buy I guess I'll get the experience 1st hand soon. I absolutely felt cursed and was depressed for a long time because of period that started exactly at the same time yours did. I thought I'm the only one but reading your comment feels like I found similar species :P man those days were hell, mom with mythical tales knowledge which was misleading and made the depression worse now being a Doc I'm aware of everything. I empathize with you.

      Delete
    5. Awww Sneha, you are such a darling. I think it will take ages before the bodyfit range hits my city. So I am still using this side walls range. I would love to know your experience with the body fit one. I just happened to notice you are a blogger too and you said a Doctor as well, that's so cool! Not sure if you would review it on your blog but if you want to write here, most welcome, he he. You know besides the positive feedback, so many people wrote bad comments too while praising Stayfree like a heaven sent. I guess it was someone from stayfree marketing and same for whisper too :P But even after 2 years I maintain that these pads are so far the best I have experienced. The depression thing is just so true, I used to feel cursed too as to why this even happens and got to know very late that it is such an important cleansing mechanism of the female body. Anyways, time to look at these from scientific point of view than aunties hush talk or anything taboo. God wants us to take good care of our bodies and this is a part of how we are made :)

  19. hi thanks a ton for this info. I was just planning to write to whisper ultra to express my angst. I have been fairly ok with them for sooo many years now (though I agree I have seen a fall in the quality)..but the latest pack that I picked up..shocked me! It just would not absorb. I am happy to know there is an alternative available. I will surely try sofy as I am very disappointed with whisper. Sad that they could not maintain their standards and loose a huge set of loyal consumers!.If I were them I would be extremely careful considering we have some choice now

    1. Actually, I saw that Whisper is lately promoting it's new 'improved' range of napkins full fledgedly on all media channels. So I was wondering may be they actually improved the quality and that I should buy one pack and check. But I am glad I got this feedback from you.

SOFY is definitely worth a try and I have never looked back after I started using it more than a year ago.

P.S. Thanks for your feedback. Please use the 2nd last option name/url when commenting. My internet connection was down for the last 5 days, so couldn't reply earlier.

    1. Irregular periods could be due to Iron and Calcium deficiency. I started very early at the age of 10 and it used to go on for the entire month. At that time I was given Iron and Calcium supplements for 2 yrs regularly. So please go check with a gynecologist.

What you are thinking to be side walls are actually the wings and they are not harsh or plasticky. The actual side walls simply means there is an outline in the pad and the liquid won't spread in the pad beyond that boundary so as to prevent it from staining the inner thighs.

But staining may happen in very heavy flow because on wearing any pad, it creases in between the legs after a few minutes and if you don't reset it properly after say half an hour of wearing, the chances are it will twist more to one side and increase the chances of staining. It's just a small tip that helps me.

Do try SOFY. I personally like the 'Dry' ones but you can go for the 'Soft' or the 'Dry' ones as per your preference. These are much much comfortable than Whisper or other brands in the market.

    1. You should definitely try SOFY then. It is anyways advisable and hygienic to change pad every 4 hours especially in the initial heavy flow days. But it will be gentler and much more cost effective if you use SOFY because Whisper's absorption is poor and it's plastic feel gives rashes easily. You may find other new brands on online stores but I didn't feel the need to try those after I switched to SOFY. Try the XL size in Sofy.

  22. I'm a 17 year old girl. I like whisper ultra and stayfree dry max. Suits me. Want to try sofy though. How good is its night protection? Can I sleep on my back or would I have to keep sideways only? If it's a good variant in night protection, I'll certainly give it a try.

    1. The XL size in SOFY will give you proper night protection. With Whisper I have faced fails in that regard. Rest I have answered in your email.

  23. I know I'm too late in reading this, but I'm just putting my two cents in. Give "She" sanitary napkins a try. The quality is amazing! They come in big packs of 36 pads, and they have sizes. The smallest size the have is as big as a Whisper Ultra pad, with better absorbancy. I recently purchased them at a mall and they had a 'ek pe ek free' offer going on. I got 72 pads at the cost on 36 pads. Think about it. They have loads of variety as well, such as Maternity pads at exte=remely affordable rates.

    1. Thanks a lot for sharing about this brand. I have heard of it but never tried it. And now I am in a remote area. But I will try to search for it online. Will keep the name in mind so I can check when I visit any mall. A few times, I had availed a similar on some unnamed brand at Big Bazaar Gurgaon and the quality was better than Whisper even at that time (some 9 yrs ago). They had mentioned that it was a new brand and that's why the prices were low for promotion, but i could never find it again.

By the way, Sofy released Sofy Bodyfit in India a few days ago. Saw the ad.

  24. i started with carefree. Hated it. then wisper came (my friends at school recommended it) and completely won me over. I loved it for its convenience of "no inconvenience". i never worried about the dread "spotting". of course in the earlier days i used to try out new pads in the market. but after a few dreadful experiences. decided to stick to wisper ultra. Then abt year and a half ago i too started to notice the lowered quality of wisper ultra and just because i was so angry with it, on my next restocking i decided to try "stayfree dry max" and have been using it since then (the improvement from my last experience with it!!!!). the "relief" from the plastic was instantaneous and immense. But i find even stayfree dry max a bit harsh some times. I read your post only today. So will definitely be trying it. Thanks a lot for detailed info. I feel it is all about making an informed choice.

    1. Thanks for sharing your experience and feedback Leen. My story is somewhat similar except that I did not go back to stayfree. I am sure it must have improved a lot by now. I get the same cottony feel and comfort with Sofy dry so I have been sticking to it. Saw the ad for Sofy body fit a couple of weeks ago but I think that could be gel based like Whisper, so I need to check more on that new variation. The Sofy Body fit range has been there in other countries from before. I hope sofy sidewalls doesn't disappoint you, it's my HG brand so far :)

    2. Have been hearing good things about Bodyfit too !

  25. Tried body fit xlarge . It's so less irritable, unlike the too scrunchy whisper ultra and choice ultra variants. I'm surprised to see that the fluid doesn't reach the lining of the napkin at all ! So girls and moms and aunts, please try the body fit range once, you'd never go back to anything again. I aLso know that sofy is not readily available at all local drugstores or departmental stores, but if you look around, you'd definitely get them. I bought a butt load at Big Bazaar. Even if you don't buy as many as I did, you can get one 6 pads pack at rs 35 at least, that's not too much to ask either. Anyway, I'm good with my menses, I hope all of us will too. Love love love <3 <3 <3

    1. Wow Adithi, thanks for another useful feedback on the bodyfit range. I want to try it but it may take time before I see it in my city. The Sofy Side walls range is online available at privyshop but as Sofy has removed the promotion and the packs are now of 6 pads for Rs 49, the online stores may not be re-stocking these. Also, with their pulling back the promotion, I guess these should not be more readily available in local shops coz earlier they were not restocking these for low margins. You seem to have found a really good deal at Rs 35 per pack price coz our nearby shop is selling at MRP/Rs 49.

Thanks for your good wishes for everyone :)

  28. I am Jen currently staying in Nepal for a few years. I was using Whisper for many years and about 1 year ago I had a hormonal problem and started bleeding constantly for 3 months . I had to use whisper everyday for 3 months and it started giving me rashes, itching and it hurt so badly because of it. Even after that i couldnt find any other brands since I thought whisper was the best and i had to go through that irritating itching and rash every time i got my period. Last month I found Sofy and tried it and my god.. what an amazing product ! Its pure heaven these days . No discomfort what so ever for me now. I simply love it and love that I finally found something comfortable. I highly recommend it , atleast to try for just once.
your review sums up everything as well. :)

    1. Thanks for the first hand feedback Jen. I understand how difficult it must have been to be bleeding for 3 months on a go. I have experienced something similar when I was 10 or 11 when I had just begun and docs told me there was Iron and Calcium deficiency. Hope you are fine now. Most women are sticking to Whisper because they still think Whisper is the best one in the market.

My new born used to get rashes from every brand if diapers and it was very difficult for him back then. Once we started using Mamy Poko, there was no looking back and the day I came to know that the same company makes Sofy. I thought of giving it a try and viola, it was the best thing to discover :) I recently started using their Bodyfit range and that's equally comfortable too.

  30. Thanks for asking for that review. I have been working to get that review published for the last 2 months. Earlier weather was not supportive and all the pics I had clicked earlier weren't satisfactory. Also, you can understand how weird it looks to be clicking sanitary napkins out in the open for the sake of good lighting :) I have managed to click the pics and have been editing them. It takes time to choose the good ones out of a 100+. I will try to put up the bodyfit review tonight or by tomorrow. Please come back and recheck and you will find it :)

  31. I stopped buying Whisper because as you said they would increase prices every other month. I bought She and Sofy napkins together. She was a dud whereas Sofy impressed me to bits! It's so soft and the best part it stays put and yes it's economically priced! :D

    1. I hate Whisper, back staining had become a regular problem with it at nights plus the price, not to mention the constant itiching!

I haven't tried 'She' though someone has mentioned above that they really liked it.I liked the new SOFY bodyfit initially for the softness but then recently realized it is just the remake of their earlier 'Soft' version which had failed to sell. It is soft and stays put and all but cannot absorb beyond 3 hours and on heavy days barely makes it to 2 hours. I ended up using 2-3 packs last month. So I am back to liking this Sofy Sidewalls reviewed in this article. But this one sometimes twists and also stains thighs. Though I trust this one for nights. Sofy still hasn't made the perfect napkin yet though it had so much potential over other brands.

  32. Wow Gagan..Really nice review..very impressive..I too love Sofy sanitary pads. I think they are economical & also very dependable. They are the best quality like all the other popular brands or should I say even better then them. I have & will always buy them because of the good things you have already said. They make my periods not sad but very happy ones.

    1. Dear Kavita, that's good to find someone who shares the same experience of using a good product. Comfortwise, SOFY is the best sanitary napkin out there. I really wish their pads had greater absorption capacity for night use. I do use this oneand the new CozyCare Sanitary napkins for nights. I find COzycare better and slimmer over Sofy SideWalls. Do try that too!

  33. I would like to know whether sofy is made from cotton, non-harmful products because now adays we can see that those pads offering more comfort are made from unnatural harmful chemicals.. Anywyz I admit that the pad is excellent to use..pls do reply..

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Dear Shamna, the cotton and the tissue or cellulose or the paper etc used in every pad is treated with chemicals and bleaches, that's how they are so white. Plus some chemicals are added to increase the absorption capacity of a pad. So all these things would be present in most of the pads out there. There is a brand called Nurture Organics that claims to make organic pads. But those are super costly and I found them as good as using a simple layer of cotton, nothing out of the box.

So to answer your question, SOFY should definitely have chemicals as it is a gel based pad. However, the biggest plus point it has is that it does not cause irritation on coming in contact with the skin. The gel becomes dangerous only when we don't change pads for very long intervals. It is besdt to change your sanitary napkin every 3-4 hours no matter how full or less used it is.

Thanks for your feedback and hope I have answered your question satisfactorily.

  34. Hi! I've just started using sofy sidewalls and was using whisper before. I ofcourse am used to the wings but I'm new to the sidewalls in pads. Unlike the wings, the side walls are not supposed to be stuck anywhere, right? And do the sidewalls get stained always? I've mostly never had staining on my pads' wings so the staining on sidewalls baffled me a little. I just hope I'm using it correctly.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Dear Swati, you need to use these the same way as you use other winged pads / whisper. The white wing like extensions on each side of the pad have to be folded and pasted at the back side of the panty. The side walls are those 3 blue lines you see on each side of the pad and it is supposed to keep the liquid within the lines and not let it go to the beyond. But when there is heavy flow, the liquid may reach the side walls from direct contact with our body instead of the already absorbed liquid reaching the sides . The thing is these pads have great absorption capacity but they do distort if sit in any odd position. So with each bathroom visit, you have to kind of straighten these. When the pad twists, that is when side walls may get stained too on being distorted between the legs.

You won't find this problem with their SOFY Bodyfit range, however, that absorbs only for max 2.5-3 hrs during heavy flow. These guys should work on the feedback but they are just sleeping.

Do try out Cozycare too. The review link is above at the end of the article. That's a little less priced, thinner, doesn't twist and had great absorption capacity too.

  35. my mom suggested me home's cotton clothes from years bcoz of money issue , and our doubt on sanitary pads regarding health.so from starting i am using the same . n whenever i tried sanitary pads i got disappointed .the main reason - whenever i used sanitary pads including whisper n stayfree , these r twisted after some time as we have heavyflow , which was annoying in schooltime as it was impossible to change within 2-3 hours ,giving stains on uniform , so i continued cotton clothes , which are able to give me protection , but uncomfortable giving rashes n worst feeling. while searching about latest trends i got many links about sofi's sideprotection including this article . so yesterday first time i used sofi XL n got what i was searching.neither it twisted not it gave stains . but after taking it for first time i went to washroom ther was almost killing smell which was not in whisper n stayfree . also today i am feeling my innerthings hot .
Please help me is this safe for health and not an issue with this ? i want to continue this .or i should continue home's cotton clothes ? is using clothe's safe for health ? as i dont get any other pad protecting and not twisting like sofi .

  36. Hi...They say that using the non-cottony pads like Whispers or Stayfree for more than 5 hours may lead to cancers in the uterus or whatever...I read it in the internet too...Is SOFY safe in that way? Is it a cotton pad or a Plastic one? Can we use it throughout the night? Thanks in advance.

  37. Whisper was first introduced to me by my mom ten years back when I got my period for the very first time. From that day I didn't think of trying something else. Although I used to carry stayfree cottony soft for all those "brown" days as whisper is too expensive to waste if you are on your light flow days. I started using whisper choice ultra when it first came into the market. At first it was cost effective and I was finally happy that at least whisper has a new cost efficient variety. But after some happy days choice no longer was a happy choice. But I chooses to stick to it in spite of it's uncomfortable and hard outer layer. Then one day when I was buying whisper choice in a departmental store a sales girl introduced me with sofy brand and she suggested me two varieties of sofy after listening my requirements : Sofy bodyfit(x large) for heavy flow and sofy bodyfit regular for browny days, for night time or long office hours soft bodyfit overnight. Really thanks to her she unknowingly has gifted me life long active days and peaceful nights with comfort and protection that also in 5 rupees less per 6pads.Thanks to her and thanks and lots of love to sofy. Sofy understand our needs better.

  38. Hii.. i had used the sofy but i am very unhappy with it... it is good but this pad absorb very less. We cant't use it in heavy flow. I advice not use this pad in nights. i suggest to Improve the quality of pad just to improve little absorbing power. overall it's kk for using in 3rd 4th day.

    1. Hi, thanks for your feedback. You must have used SOFY bodyfit sidewalls which has very low absorption capacity. The original SOFY sidewalls reviewed above has excellent absorption capacity and I am using it as a night pad too for many years now. The only problem I face is that the outer cover tears off while untaping and opening the pad. SOFY has also launched night pads finally, but those are quite costly. I have no affiliation with this brand. For any product suggestions, you can contact unicharm at the email ID / phone number given on the pack.

  39. I always used whisper for almost 8 years and I thought that's the best, but like from past one year or 2, I have observed the change in the quality bt I always thought my flow has increased. I haven't dared to try new brands cos I thought they could be worst. This time when I went to supermarket, I couldn't find whisper, so I had to take sofy also cos it had sone offer. And shockingly, for me i didnt habe to change my pad so often and I again thought it's about the flow and I decided to see the reviews of sofy to know if I can rely on it, and Iam happy I found something better! No itching issues and best part is very soft and dry! :)

  40. today i tired sofy for d 1st time, i hv heard several positive reviews about it, d sales girl at a mall told me to try sofy and i purchased d one having 45pads as it was on discount , i tried the sofy bodyfit antibacteria , i saw two other sofy products ie sofy regular one for browny days and d other i cant recall, however i must say sofy is good soft comfortable but its absorption capacity is a little less than whisper, i tried d xl one and d pad is smaller in size than whisper ultra clean xl, i was reading some of d comments above and it was stated that d bodyfit one is a replica of d soft with low absorbency.....so d sofy bodyfit antibacteria also belongs to that category??? what is d name of d other one with more absorbency??? i was searching online and all d products r either stating sofy regular (and a xl version of d same ) and d other was this sofy bodyfit antibacteria ......so does d regular xl one has more absorbency??? does it have a antibacterial version as well???

  41. Hi
I also feel that sofy is much better compared to other pads. I m using antibacterial . it is something that gives me fresh feeling. Whisper is just a plastic bag full of cotton. Me and my daughter both r using same product.

  42. Totally agree with u ... I have been so loyal with whisper but the new whisper ultra is really irritating me like anything . Earlier it was a life saver . I recommended it to so many of my friends but now I guess I need some recommendations. I used sofy may be it is a good product but its not for me I had a worst experience with sofy .
Now I don't know which one I will switch to.
