Patanjali Drishti Eye Drops Review

This is a review of Patanjali Drishti Eye Drops. It is an ayurvedic proprietary medicine. A couple of weeks ago, I visited the local Patanjali Chikitsalaya/Aushdhalaya to restock my Henna. As most of your know, Patanjali is Yog Guru Baba Ramdev's brand. I got interested in a variety of products available there and ended up buying quite a few.

Patanjali Drishti Eye Drops Review

drishti= vision
aushdhalaya= clinic

I had seen my mom and brother using these eye drops but never thought of trying them. Then off late, I was feeling a sticky layer of discharge in my eyes, which was blurring my vision. Usually this happens in the rainy season may be due to some infection. Also, I had constant headache due to spending long hours in front of the computer. So I thought of trying these ayurvedic eye drops.

Patanjali Drishti Eye Drops Review

Composition:
Patanjali Drishti Eye Drops Ingredients

I remember some 8 years ago or so, this very composition was shared on TV program and one of our family friends couple used to make this medicine at home and distribute it to everyone around for free. At that time I was vary of using it and never tried. But as Patanjali has proper research centers and is a trusted brand, I did not feel any concerns.

Patanjali Drishti eye drops were properly packed inside a sealed foiled packaging. The outer cardboard box says: Useful in various eye problems, cataract and general eye disorders.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH PATANJALI DRISHTI EYE DROPS:

Patanjali Drishti Eye Drops Review

I could feel an immense difference within the very first use. It gave me instant relief from the pain I was feeling in my eyes and the headache. Usually when you do not wear your spectacles, you feel some discomfort when looking at distant objects. After using these eye drops, I no longer feel any such discomfort. It has clarified my vision.

These eyedrops burn a lot and I use only 1 drop in each eye. The burning feels much only during the first two uses and after that you get used to it and it hardly feels. You can faintly smell onion but the scent is not even noticeable.

The man at the Patanjali Center had mentioned diluting the eye drops with rosewater to avoid the burning. But I chose to use direct because:

1. I used to put honey in my eyes during childhood. My eyesight weakened only when I was in MA final year and used to study whole nights in artificial lighting. So I am quite used to the burning sensation as honey burns a LOT when used directly in the eyes.

2. I do not find Patanjali Rosewater reliable, and other brands in the market have parabens and other chemicals added. So I did not want to take any risk.

Patanjali Rosewater feels like rose petals boiled in water rather than distilled rosewater and also there are brown remains of petals floating inside which sometimes look like fungus. I really wonder how this rosewater survives without any preservatives.

I mostly use these at bedtime or when my eyes are tired after long hours in front of the computer. It does not dry my eyes and I have not felt any discomfort or redness at all in these 2 weeks. I am happy to have found this product.

People who work long hours in front of computer or laptop everyday may give it a try and can use these to rejuvenate your eyes while travelling back home from the office. Please do NOT use these eye drops while wearing contact lenses as it may contaminate our lenses. But you can use after removing the lenses at night.

If you feel any discomfort or reaction in the first few uses, please stop using immediately. People who are using other medicated eye drops or are undergoing treatment for some medical conditions of the eye, please consult with your doctor.

    1. One of my neighbors had to take a whole set of treatment for something like that. She was advised not even to wash her face to prevent any further contamination to her eyes. But for me, these eye drops alone gave relief from all those symptoms.

    1. One of my close relatives is an ayurvedacharya and I also discussed in detail with the ayurvedacharya at the Patanjali Clinic. Yes you are right. Eyes are sensitive. These ingredients just work as natural cleansers and are know for years.

And Shikha, honey varies from batch to batch depending upon which flowers' juice the bees are fed on. The honey I used to use during childhood was from a very good source luckily, but i could never procure that again. It would just burn slightly but never made my eyes red. But later when I used a different one, it started swelling my eyes as it was QUITE stingy. So I stopped. So not every honey can be used. The branded ones in the market have antibiotics including Patanjali's honey :(

    1. Oh you have already tried it! Yes it stings but I didn't feel a lot may be because my eyes have kind of become numb working so long on the comp. If you spend a lot of hours on the comp or reading books or watching TV, you can use it daily. But I skip sometimes in between, I don't use daily if eyes are fine and not over stressed.

    3. Dear Pammi, it is nowhere mentioned in the article that these eye drops are for improving eyesight. And if you see the pictures of the pack above, there also it says useful in general eye eye problems (meaning infections etc), disorders, cataract etc. Only one of the users has shared in the above comment that she found her improvement in her eyesight after 4 months of regular use. That is their opinion and experience The brand makes no such claim and I also never used it from that perspective.

I don't use it continuously though I might try in the future to see if it helps with my vision improvement. But if you want to trust the Sonika's first hand experience in the comment above, it is up to you.

    4. Jitender Bhati: Hi Diva and Pammi, It sounds true that these eye drops help in improving eyesight. I heard it from my elder brother and the shopkeeper as well saying: this medicine is good to remove spects. I have also started using this but being very true, not very frequently. That's why I am not able to share my personal opinions. But yes, I have turned my steering towards Ayurveda products.

      Delete
    5. Dear Jitender, it great to know when people choose natural alternatives over the chemical ones. And even if you are not regular, but use these consistently, if they are actually as good as people here are claiming it to be, these will definitely give you some benefit.

With regular chemical medicines, you have to follow a proper course else the medicine loses it's effect. But since they have claimed these are for general eye disorders and the ingredients are at least 90% natural, you have the freedom to use them whenever you can and whenever you remember to :)

Do share your feedback once you notice some positive changes. Thank you.

    1. Dear Pritesh, sorry for the extremely late response and I did not have internet access these past couple of weeks. Please know that drishti eye drops are NOT moisturising eye drops. These are for general eye disorders only. Only one reader has mentioned that it helped improve her vision. After 10 years of lasik, a certain % of people do see an increase in the power of their lenses. If dryness/lubrication is the only problem, better consult an eye specialist for moisturising/lubricating eye drops.

    2. Apologize for late response. I have seen Ramdev Video about eye sight. He mentioned that people with lasik eye surgery can use it after couple of months of operation. I have discussed with couple eye specialist and Yog peeth retailer. Half of them not sure and half said its fine . it is general drops so should not be problem. My eye sight is ok it just right eye got little prescription,I guess i only need glass if i watch television other than its good. My job is sitting in front of computer. howeever i advise other users to do Pranayam and Use Divya drsihti Eye drop. Pranayam did help me from eye dryness issue.

    3. I so agree Pritesh, even when I try checking on details for some of their products, their appointed ayurvedacharyas aren't too sure. They make such nice products, if only they were more sure and confident of what their products can do. I agree Pranayam has helped improve many people's vision and also we have feedback from 2 people here that these drops helped them too. So let's try these.

    4. Thanks for the Response. I have been analysing my eye vision and shows that people who live in India or other country where you can have proper sun there eyes don't get dry. Also Pranyam and Divya Drishti drops helps to improve eye sight. I am living in Uk and weather is almost cold everyday.Dry air all the time , hardly see the sun and that makes eye dry. . I have not tried Drishti eye drop yet but i am quite confident that this will brings my eye sight normal. Like you mentioned appointed Ayurvedacharyas are not sure about the product. I am taking baba ramdev's word about using the drops from his You tube video.I have ordered my drop will see, i am quite sure that will help
Thanks again for the post & Keep posting :-)

    5. You might have received your order by now I guess. Hmm I didn't know that low temperatures may affect eye lubrication too. Thanks for sharing that. But in my case I spend a lot of time in front of the comp, which dries the eyes. Your updates are welcome and will surely help us all :)

    ReplyDelete

    1. I don't know where you heard of Iris lightening with lemon and honey because I am not aware of that and nor does the product claim any cosmetic results. Honey and lemon do have some bleaching properties when used on the hair, but that's all I know. So please research the internet for more info on that. People commenting here are genuine users who are struggling to get their eye problems fixed and this idea may be too fancy and misleading for them. Things are perfect the way God has created them. I am sure colored lenses are a better option :) but if you do come across any solid info on iris lightening, I would be very interested to know. Thanks for stopping by.

    1. Hi Keshav. If you mean your eyes are watery like some eye infection then of course it needs to be checked but if you mean that your eyes remain lubricated all the time and you don't feel any dryness in the eyes, then it is a positive sign because the problem starts when eyes get dry due to constant staring at the computer monitor or phone.

  17. Good to know that your eyesight is getting improved. One most important thing about these drops is continuity. We have to use these two times a day for three months straight ( for those having long or short eyesight problems). In case we stop using , the eyesight tends to be the same as it used to be. I spoke to a practitioner, though she didn't mention drishti eye drops-she said this mixture i.e. the one used for drishti eye drops is a very good remedy for all eye disorders. So if anyone wants to see the result, please continue it without fail. I have stopped using my glasses completely, great product. But i have to continue it for another month or two to get substantial results.

    1. Hi, Patanjali doesn't make any such claims as you can see from the package pics in the article. However, if you read the previous comments, most people have mentioned that it helped cure their dryness and some people even claimed improved vision with regular use. You can give it a try if you want. Also, if the discomfort is really high, you should get lubricating eye drops on prescription from a good eye specialist. People who spend so much time in front of the comp (including me) are generally prescribed to use moisturizing drops regularly 3 times a day.

Right now i am using allopathy eye drops and i am taking amla ke rasayn , triphul ghrit in the morning & evening, some badam powder milk at night. can i use both allopath & ayurvedic medicines at atime. RIght now ayurvedic- as intake and i am not using any eye drops..

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Dear Pramod, it is fine to take both Ayurvedic and allopathic products at the same time BUT at times these can conflict in people with special cases. Like some ayurvedic medicines decrease blood sugar or increase heart rate. So say if someone is already taking allopathyic medicine for diabetes/sugar control and then takes an ayurvedic product which further decreases bllod sugar, then it can get risky. Amla, Triphala and Badaam sound mild and are anyways taken as foods in regular lifestyle. So they shouldn't interfere but when taking any other allopathic and ayurvedic treatments together, always check with your doctor or do search on the ayurvedic ingredients as to what effect is caused by which one, on the body.

  27. Hi I recently bought this from ebay indian seller. Anyway the reason I bought this is because I hope it will be good for my tired strained eyes from staring at PC screen for many hours. I had so far tried a drop on my left eye, it stung for a few seconds and my eye got red. :X The stinging freaked me out, as I wasn't expecting this, I was going to rinse off with water if it didn't stop .. thank god it was only for that instant when the eye drop hit the eye ball. LOL. That freaked me out .. so I am waiting to see if my left eye have any side effect before using it again .. still afraid of the sting ! :D I still feel the impact of the sting, it is not stinging now but I think I applied it too close to the inner eye area, so that part have the stung feeling ... like it is not normally how my eye feels .. like a after shock effect.
My question is I can use this eye drop for tired eyes right and it is supposed to sting ?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If you had read the post or the very helpful comments before, you would have figured out that these eyedrops DO sting, which is normal because honey and onion both sting in the eyes and activate the tear glands, making the eyes naturally flush out any dirt or irritants.

By now you would have gotten used to these drops. The stinging feels shocking only for the first few uses because you may have never used any such product before. My mom and brother used to tell me "Oh it stings like hell" until I tried it and found it quite bearable, because I used to put honey in my eyes during childhood.

Yes, it does help tired eyes though doctor has given me 'Propylene Glycol' based lubricating eye drops to be put thrice daily as I also spend very long hours in front of the computer. I used these eye drops mainly when feeling any irritation. I think these will be helpful in the coming month when there is a lot of dust getting in the eyes during the cloudy dusty windy weather around 'Holi' in India.

And yes, eye drops are supposed to be used in the inner corner, right on the tear glands. Putting eye drops anywhere else directly in the middle of the eyes will sting even more and flow out of the eyes sooner. so you did the right thing :)

    Replies
    1. Dear Ashish, if it didn't help you, then there could be some other factors affecting your eyes, which may be causing so much dryness and not enough tear production to lubricate the eyes. Kindly check with your doctor for some medicated lubricating drops.

While many people have left feedback here that these drops did help them with dry eyes, everybody's living habits and body are different and Patanjali itself has not claimed these to be lubricating eye drops. It simply cleans the eyes and removes any blockages it seems, which helps the tear production level come to normal and keeps the eyes generally healthy.

If you read the previous comments, many users have mentioned that these eye drops helped them. So if you want to try, there is no harm in trying as this is a product with least chemicals and natural ingredients.

But I know one case where our family friend's daughter had a very high number/ poor eyesight in both eyes. She started taking a lot of radish, carrots and green salad every afternoon and it improved her vision within a month and a half. Even the doctor was surprised. You are very young and still have a chance to improve your eyesight by taking good diet. Once you reach your 30s then the number becomes stable and you should try to improve your power before that.

      1. Keep cold water in yr mouth ( do not drink it) and leave yr eyes open and drizzle (throw) water in yr eye ( eyes wide open)

    1. Hi, sorry for the late reply. I was busy and did not get a chance to answer all comments past few weeks. Your eyes should not go red. I don't think it is normal. The ayurvedacharya at the Patanjali pharmacy and suggested me too to dilute the drops in rose water but I used plain. Try using the drops plain. Or the Honey in the eye drops may be causing the redness as some people are allergic to honey. Till how long the redness remain?

But that would have been cheating and wrong because I am not an expert in eye treatment or medicine.

But I am really happy to know these eye drops helped you and your mom and grateful to you for coming back and sharing about it on this page. Also, tell her to take lots of salad and papaya. It surely helps. Especially cabbage, raddish along with some green soft raddish leaves, carrots, tomatoes etc. She can have one full plate of salad in the afternoon and it helps. Also read the comments of other users above regarding yoga aasanas.

  38. Thanks a lot, Madam, Now, I shall share my personal experience irrespective of my eye disease and this drishti eye drop. I was attacked with uveitis of my right eye on October last. After that I visited doctor several times and accordingly doctor gave me several eye drop, but the drops gave me temporary relieve. It used to recurre again and again soon after I stop applying the drop as recommended by doctor and the doctor too told me that uveitis is that disease which don' t have any permanent cure. I was in depression because of my eye disease. After that I decided to search for its cure in internet. I searched a lot and after lots of searches I came to know about this eye drop. I too watched lots of videos of baba ramdev in you tube. From February, 2014, I started using this eye drop. I too started performing yoga (for eye disease) And, also started consuming, Alma juice ( All I learnt through the mode of Internet). And, after applying all these method, with God blessing, I got much relieve from my eye disease, my confident rises. And, I am well now. Once again I want to thanks all.

  39. Can these eye drops fix Blepharitis of the eye. I got diagnosed with this condition some months back and very frequently get the red eye and blurry vision only in the right eye. My Eye specialist has asked me to do daily hot compresses and baby shampoo cleaning of the eye lids. The doctor also prescribed to me Sterod and Antibiotic drops and told me to use them when the redness gets worse. But these only give me temporary relief for a few days and then I need to use them again.

Therefore I am trying to find a better natural way to cure this. I would really appreciate if you can give me some guidance if these drops will be correct for me.

    1. Hi Priya, after reading your comment, I checked the internet and read more about Blepharitis and I too have had this many many years ago though I did not know the name of the condition. The doctor used to give borax powder to dilute in warm water and to clean up the eye area. I think these drops can help flush out the infection as they straight hit the teat glands. There is no harm in trying if the other medicines are not working. Do you use contact lenses by any chance? I mean were you using contacts before contracting this infection?

As such, Patanjali does not claim that these drops are lubricants but these make your eyes healthier and promote your natural tear production. The price is also very less so why not try them and see?

I found out few things about these eye drops, those who had vision problems from long time won't get much benefit from it or it would take a long period of time to improve vision. My mom is using these eyedrops its been few months but her vision didn't improved. It may be coz of her long term vision problem she was in her late 20's when she diagnosed with hypermyopia. Well I would say never loose hope. Keep using DRISTHI :)

Thank you gaganpreet for creating this page so that we can share our experiences & people can get actual feedbacks. I also started using patanjali medicines & drisithi eye drop for eyesight improvement in March 2014. That time my number was Right -0.5 + 1.25 Cylindrical & Left -0.75 + 1.25 Cylindrical. After 2 months, with regular use of medicines, I have improved my vision. Now my number is Right 0.5 + 0.75 cylindrical & Left 0.5 + 1.25 Cylindrical. Now I have full faith in patanjali medicines.

Later on I will share what all extra I was & currently doing to improve my vision. Hope that would also help you guys.

    1. Dear Jaskirat, I would like to know more about the Patanjali medicines you are referring to apart from these eye drops. Personally I found them helpful only for general eye disorders or discomfort during weather change. I had gone for an eye check up last year in Oct and doctor told me there is infection in my eyes and gave me eye drops for infection plus a second one for keep the eyes moist. I didn't use them regularly as prescribed. Last month I went for a check up again and the doctor said my eye infection had gone severe since there was dryness, itching, some wateriness and discomfort in the eyelids. My mom had a severe infection and I think I caught from her within a week. But she used dirshti eye drops during the infection and her infection worsened. Same for my aunt (maasi). So I didn't use Patanjali drops as my infection is still not cured. Once fine, I would like to go back to these drops for improving my vision. I too have a cylindrical number.

I stopped using contact lenses 2 years ago and you have mentioned in another comment that glasses further deteriorate vision. Is that your personal experience or have you been told that by a doctor?

    1. Some people may be allergic to honey. I used to put honey in my eyes just because I was also told that it improves vision but to be honest I didn't notice any such thing at that time. It used to suit me for many months but later when I changed honey, it started swelling my eyes so bad, my eyes used to remain red and swollen for at least 48 hrs. I think it depends on the flower source that honey is derived from. Later I became allergic to honey and now I can't even consume it or put it on my skin, I get rashes instantly. So I think these drops alone cannot help. You need to do some exercise along with it.

These eye drops do not claim any miraculous results as you can see the simple packaging in the pictures which simply says "For general eye disorders". But if your eyes are healthy, you can give it a try and see as many people say it did help their vision. I feel it just has cleansing properties and nothing else. Onion does have repair properties but to each one their own.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I would not recommend this to a kid of 5 yrs. These eye drops sting a lot and even some adults cannot tolerate it. Why would you want to torture such a small kid? And moreover these are meant for general eye discomfort. If the kid has any problem or redness in the eye, you should rather be taking them to the doctor and if the eye sight is weak, simply improve the kid's diet over the coming years and it will be fine. Most kids don't eat properly at this age but later get okay and don't get specs when they grow up. Please don't use these drops on a 5 yrs old.

      1. You can make these eye drops at home. Check out this article: http://simpleayurvedichealthtips.blogspot.in/2010/12/recipe-for-eye-drops-as-recommended-by.html

      2. You can try out this DIY eye drops recipe which claims to cure cataract:
      http://stampedepanik.blogspot.in/2012/12/diy-eye-drops.html

      3. Apart from that, I know someone who makes their own eye drops with an aloe vera based product. There is a US brand by the name Forever which sells a product named Aloe Activator. You can mix that aloe activator with distilled /boiled and cooled water in a 50:50 ratio and use them as eye drops. That can also help you.

      4. Yes, it is true and a recently introduced restriction on shipping liquids by air, whether domestic or international. As far as I know, Indian Postal Service does accept liquid for domestic shipping IF it is packed extremely well and it is not an combustible product. However, I am not sure about international shipping by indian speed post. You can have some relative of yours call up India Post toll free at 1800112011 and check the possibility.

    1. Dear Radha, I personally know a girl from my childhood with a similar case. She had glasses very early on in life and by the age of 7 or so, the power on both her eyes increased to a point where the doctor said she was near blindness. However, a few months later when her mom took her for an eye check up, her power had come down by 2 numbers which surprised the doctor. I am just sharing what I was told by her mom first hand as they were family friends.

When the doctor asked what they did or what has she fed her daughter, my aunt replied that she simply started feeding a lot of green salad to her daughter in lunch particularly carrots, radish, radish leaves etc.

So I truly believe that your daughter is very young and kids' bodies have an amazing capacity to heal and overcome such problems. That girl now wear lenses, her power is now stabilized, is happily settled abroad and recently had a baby boy. This might totally cure itself with time or if not completely cured, please be assured that this won't turn out as bad as you fear.

The squint would go away. If she required any surgery, the doctor would have told you. She is too young to try out these eye drops, and I understand it is not easy to feed veggies to such a small kid. Mine turned 6 recently and he is now slowly developing his tastes. But yes you can start with orange-carrot juice or try to feed her veggies papaya etc in any form that she can eat it and likes it. There's lot of amazing info available on the internet on how to make food attractive to kids. And as she grows, she will eventually develop a taste for those.

So at the moment, just love and embrace your daughter with all your love for her and let life take its course and unfold its miracles. She is going to be fine just believe that wholeheartedly. Love.

    1. Hi there, please read just two comments above for my reply above to Radha's concerns and I want to give you the exactly same answer. The girl that I knew in my childhood had reached a power of 8 and then suddenly bounced back to better. So there is definitely hope.

Your daughter's eyesight may completely get normal as she grows up or the power may reduce to much less. Your kid is in a developing stage, is very young and therefore her body has a LOT of capacity to heal. Once she starts with proper food and veggies, things are definitely going to improve. And there are eye exercises and other stuff you can start with once she reaches a reasonable age. For now, just let her be and follow the doctor's advise on wearing glasses at least for some time till the squint goes away and yes, if possible, introduce orange carrot juice in her diet. Tomatoes and watermelon are helpful too in improving the vision.

Apart from that, make sure your eyes are well lubricated all the time. If you spend long hours in front of computer and don't blink much, the dryness cause further damage to the eyes. So use moisturizing eye drops like Moistane. You can also try Eyetone eye drops. Eat lots of greens in salad during lunch. Have carrots, tomatoes, watermelon etc.

The prescription of glasses given by doctors have not helped to improve vision. I started using dristi eye drops about 15 days back. It gave wonderful result for 10 to 12 days. After that the same old problem started. Can you please suggest me whether i can get permanent relief by using dristi eye drops. How many times i should apply dristi eye drops?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi there, distortion of vision seems should be a problem related to the eye lens or the retina, meaning something on the inside is not right and that might need some corrective surgery. As you might have read above these drops are for general eye disorders. If you see the ingredients, they are mainly which stimulate the tear ducts to produce a lot of water in the eyes and flush out any irritants or pollutants. Continuous usage may have helped some people keep their eyes clean which translates to better vision for many, as most of us are exposed to pollutants every single day.

But for distorted vision, I think you should take advise from a few more expert doctors. There is a chain of eye hospitals by the name of Vasan Eye Care and they have branches in most cities. You can check online if they are present in your city. The fee is just Rs 100 and you go through some 4-6 steps and 2-3 doctors in a single visit, all for Rs 100 only. They have advanced equipment and should be able to help diagnose the correct problem.

    1. Dear Raj, please read the comments above and you will have a fair idea. Personally I have mentioned and am repeating in most comments that these eye drops are meant for general eye disorders. Most people are claiming an improvement in vision which I feel could be because of clearer eyes and tear duct stimulation caused by these drops. Onion juice may have some cell regenerative powers too. But if you are asking for specifically how much power improvement will happen by using these drops, I don't think anyone can answer that. Even if these eye drops improve vision, the results may be different for different people. So 6 months is a good long period to try and figure out and share your feedback, so we have more proof and more solid figures on this. Personally I am not using these drops at present.

  78. I thought these drops were totally Ayurvedic without any chemical preservatives but I found that this was not the case. This product contains Benzalkonium chloride (BAK) which is the most common preservative in glaucoma medications. BAK has been detected in the trabecular meshwork (TM), corneal endothelium, lens, and retina after topical drop installation and may accumulate in those tissues. There is evidence that BAK causes corneal and conjunctival toxicity, including cell loss, disruption of tight junctions, apoptosis and preapoptosis, cytoskeleton changes, and immunoinflammatory reactions. These same effects have been reported in cultured human TM cells exposed to concentrations of BAK found in common glaucoma drugs and in the TM of primary open-angle glaucoma donor eyes. It is possible that a relationship exists between chronic exposure to BAK and glaucoma.

Because of this preservative I will not be using these drops..and suggest others do the same until this company removes this chemical preservative and finds a safer alternative.

    1. Dear P, thanks for sharing these great details. From what I understand about personal care items, the more natural ingredients you use in formulating a product, the higher the amount of preservatives you would need to give it a good shelf life.

I see that the amount of BAK used in these eye drops is mere 0.1% v/v. So for a 15 ml Patanjali Drishti Eye Drops Bottle, the total volume of preservative BAK used comes to 0.015 ml, which is very low. And because a very small amount of the preservative has been used, the shelf life for these drops is just 1 month as mentioned on the pack. Practically, do you think any product can be packed and sold without any preservatives. Just mix any natural juices from your kitchen and leave them in a covered container or bottle and it would go rancid very soon, right?

Now as you have shared the harmful effects BAK may have, I do believe even a small percentage when used continuously for a very long period several times a day can be harmful. This is why I personally do not recommend anyone using ANY product continuously for a very long time. Always give some gap before you start with the next bottle, which can be done in case of these drops say after using 5-6 bottles (1-2 times in a day). I personally think that should be okay.

As for Patanjali personal care products, I found that they are using Urea as a preservative which is a concern for me as Urea releases formaldehyde after coming in contact with skin and this is not safe. Many high end brands that claim to be organic or make sea minerals based products also use Urea. At least Patanjali has been transparent and not charging exorbitant rates.

If you read a few comments above, I have shared a link in reply to some comment, where you can get the formula of making these eye drops at home and benefit from them, without worrying about the preservative :)

  79. Hello everyone. I just wanted to know if I can use these drops to remove calcium deposit on my left eye's cornea.please respond soon!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Dear Avijeet, a read about calcification in the cornea and understand that the underlying cause could be higher calcium levels in the body. Have you been taking any overdose of calcium/ supplements containing calcium? If you doctor can confirm high levels of calcium in the body, then you need to stay away from foods containing calcium, at least for some time.

When such calcium deposits form in the skin, the treatment is to make that part of the skin soft and moist so these deposits break off and get flushed out. If we apply the same theory to eyes, then these drops might help. I am not a medico so I can't confirm but my gut feeling says these might help.

Another thing I am using at present is 50% Forever U.S. Aloe Activator + 50% distilled/ RO water. One fo my family members has been using these for years and I also started using from last few months. We have small clean eyedrop bottles from a homeopathy store and make one bottle, keep it in the fridge and use once daily.

The aloe activator is marketed as a skin care product but we use it for miscellaneous purposes including as eye drops (by using 50% dilution in water). You can buy this activator from a distributor. It is very costly (around 800-900 bucks) but it is worth it as you can use it for so many other things like foot soak, on cuts, burns, for gargling, mouthwash, skin care packs etc etc. The shelf life would be 3 years. Aloe vera has many varieties and this one comes from a reliable source. Pure aloe vera extract should soften and moisten your eyes and the allantoin present in the activator regenerates damaged cells.

      Hope this helps!

  80. Can i use these eye drop 4- 5 times a day to improve vision faster.does it cause any harm

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Do you really think taking double dose of a recommended medicine can make someone get well faster? By common sense, too much of any medication can be injurious to health. Moreover, Patanjali has not claimed that these drops improve vision. It's users who are saying that as per their experience. Please be sensible to use just 1-2 times a day.

  85. I find it the best to make personally the eye drops like it is described in the links you posted above. But for this one it is not stated if it needs to refrigerate and how long is the shelf life: http://stampedepanik.blogspot.in/2012/12/diy-eye-drops.html . Do you have some advice?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Dear Daya, without preservatives it is as good as the food we store in the refrigerator which is prone to bacterial and microbial growth. So I guess the shelf life would be only a few days. Do not make large batches and do not store for long. If you can find a new empty eye drops bottle (can get it easily from a homeopathy store), that would be a hygienic option to store these and may be then these can last a week to 10 days.

  86. hi,

any idea for how many months, years we can continue using the drops?

    hope to hear from you.

    1. Hi, I personally believe we should not use ANY product continuously repeatedly. At the max use 2 bottles continuously, then give a gap of a week then start over and so on. Using the same product without any gap in between would make our body immune to it and it would stop working for us.

  89. hello,
My son is 7 years and few months back in regular eye check-up got glasses with -1.25 number in both eyes. I got it checked in India the number increased to -1.75 in left eye and cylindrical also. He is so fond of reading and his left eye is little weak seems, thats what doctor said. Does Dristi eye drops is ok to use for kids of young age as i dont want to experiment with his eyes. The number keeps on increasing as he grow, this is told to me. please help me.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi there, kids have amazing recovery power so first of all please don't think the number would go on increasing. It is true that cylindrical number is mainly found in grown ups, but I was told it is because of distortion of the lens and not weakness. Please do NOT use Drishti eyedrops on such a small kid. He won't be able to tolerate.

I have answered similar concern from two parents above. Please check my reply to Radha's comment and one more comment right below hers. Scroll above for the comments dated Jan 8 and Jan 9. I have the same reply for you as I have shared above with these parents. Hope it helps.
