Best Before: 3 Yrs from Mfg.

After getting great medicinal results from the Biotique Costus foot cream, I thought of giving this hand cream a try. I started using this in September end and even though it was quite hot and humid then, I needed a hand cream because 1. I have extremely dry skin 2. Having a toddler and pets makes it unavoidable to wash my hands with soap every few minutes. So my hands need good moisturization even in summers.

Biotique Nyctanthes Hand Cream

Biotique Nyctanthes Hand Cream
The actual quantity is just 65% of the tub you see above.
The first thing I loved on opening the pack was the fragrance and the color. The cream is a lovely peachy pink and the fragrance is just out of the world. I have never in my life smelt such a soothing floral scent. I just can't resist sniffing my hands on and on continuously, when I have applied this cream. I especially enjoy sniffing this to sleep at night. But apart from pleasing my senses of smell and sight, did it actually work on my hands?

This hand cream penetrates better when applied soon after bath. Initially, I applied it religiously everyday after bath and at night. It made my hands soft and beautiful. I rub it thoroughly in the gaps between my fingers and also into my nails and cuticles. Just like the Biotique foot cream, this hand cream has also strengthened my nails. For the first time in 4 years, I have been able to keep long nails without them splitting into layers. My cuticles are healthier than before.

It kept my hands well moisturized, soft and glowing during summers. By Oct end, it gets colder here and my hands and palms start developing painful cuts from over washing and dryness. My knuckles go dry and purple in winters.

It is Nov end and real winter is yet to hit. But already this cream is not able to keep up to its claims. Nyctanthes hand cream has not been able to treat these cuts even after applying lavishly, several times in the day and at night. I woke up a few days ago with a bad dry rash between my ring finger and tall finger, but this cream could not heal the rash too.

So I feel the claims to cure skin infections and dry, dehydrated, cracked brittle skin have failed completely. Such skin needs both oiliness and moisturization and this cream does not have even a trace of oiliness.

It does beautify my very dry hands instantly and makes my skin look nourished.
Biotique Nyctanthes Hand Cream Review
The dryness on my skin is quite visible here.
Biotique Nyctanthes Hand Cream Review
After spreading
Biotique Nyctanthes Hand Cream Review
After blending. See the glow?
If I run my nail on this, I don't get a white streak. My hands look pink and healthy. But it does not provide long time results in cold weather, because it lacks essential oils. The moment I wash my hands with soap, my skin returns to it's dry and brittle condition

I had bought this hand cream because of the claims and the absence of chemicals and preservatives. But with such results, it is definitely over-priced. I can apply hot ghee at night and get my wounds treated much faster and even body lotion provides deep nourishment to hands. For Summers and for my nails, this will still be my favorite product, but for winters, I definitely need another hand cream now.

If you know of a great hand cream for winters, please do share the details in the comments below.

The Body Shop Hi-Shine Lip Treatment Cherry Glimmer Review and Swatches http://www.thebodyshop.co.uk/

The Body Shop Hi-Shine Lip Treatment Cherry Glimmer Review

Post by my friend Tejinder Kaur

This is a review of The Body Shop Hi-Shine Lip Treatment in shade Cherry Glimmer shade 15.

The Body Shop Hi-Shine Lip Treatment Cherry Glimmer Review

The Body Shop Claims - A range of ultra-shiny, sheer tinted, wet-look lip glosses that offer intense moisturization and conditioning to the lips. Each is subtly scented with a passion fruit fragrance. Dermatologically tested.

Product Description: The Body Shop Hi-Shine Lip Treatment comes in a choice of 9 colors. I bought Cherry glimmer shade 2 weeks ago from The Body shop. It is a transparent cherry red shade with multicolored micro-shimmer in it. The color is really pretty and sheer.

It has pretty good staying power. I love the feel of this gloss, and it moisturizes very well. It's smooth, delicate and caring. Very creamy, tasty and smells great like a fruit sweet scent. Consistency is good as it spreads evenly. It is very easy to use as it glides over the lips pretty easily with this slanted tip applicator. It gives glossy finish.

 Slanted tip applicator
Packaging: It is a clear squeezing tube which identifies the color. It has a clear twist-off cap, which is rounded off. Has a slanted plastic applicator tip. The Plastic of the tube seems to be a little too stiff.

Texture: A bit sticky for me and too thick as well, yet creamy in texture. I love the fact that it leaves my lips very soft - this gloss does exactly what it says - nice and moisturizing. I like the finish, not too glossy but effective. It helps lips to stay comfortable even when it's cold and lips get dry.

Staying power: Stays maximum 3 hours. After about 3 hours the color on my lips is no longer there but my lips still look glossy, nice and shiny.

Pigmentation: Very good pigmentation. A single swipe builds up good color.

The pigmentation levels are really good in the darker / brighter shades but weaker in the lighter shades. They are quite moisturizing and will keep your lips soft, supple and protected. This is a real lip treatment.

Cost: £9.50 for 14ml (Around INR 575 in India). Discounts available during Body Shop Discount Sale.
Availability: The Body Shop

 Pros:
  • Fantastic scent
  • Generally feels nice on the lips in terms of its consistency.
  • Pigmentation good
  • Pretty good staying power
  • Taste is good
  • Gives Glossy finish
  • Keeps your lips nice and moisturized
 Cons:
  • A bit expensive
  • Very sticky; if you have long hair, they do stick to the lips.

 Final Verdict:

If you are a fan of glossy or shine lip products and moderate stickiness is not a problem, give these glosses a try. The color selection seems to be nice, and you are likely to find one that suits your skin tone nicely. Very highly pigmented and smells like fruit.

Overall Rating :3.5/4

Bourjois 1 Seconde Nail Enamel in No 13 Bikini Paillete (Review, Nail Swatches)

Bourjois 1 Seconde Nail Enamel 13 Bikini Paillete is a gorgeous Fuchsia color glitter nail paint. It looks more magenta in warm light (sunlight, bulb light, natural light, with flash etc) and more purplish in cool light (tube light, without flash etc).  The shade looks darker in the bottle but comes out much brighter on nails. It is quite a bridal shade for Indian brides collection and also great to be worn during the festival season. A very pretty winter shade.

Brand Claims:

Packaging: The nail polish bottle cap is really long and the brush is small and fan-shaped, which is the specialty of this nail paint. The cap is textured on both sides for a better no-slip grip. Color of the cap exactly matches the color of the nail paint, so much so, I can also see the fuchsia and blue micro glitters in the cap's plastic. Impressive packing!

Bourjois 1 Seconde Nail Enamel 13 Bikini Paillete is loaded with micro glitters which shine as fuchsia, purple and blue. Strangely, when you remove this nail paint, only the color comes off in the cotton swab and you see a layer of silver glitter left on the nails. This requires a second round of cleaning.

In the pics, I have applied a transparent base coat (Colorbar), two coats of Bourjois 1 Seconde Nail Enamel 13 Bikini Paillete, and then a transparent top coat.

Here's a close up of the glitters
It stayed 36 hours on my nails with two baths and laundry and a hundred hand washes and started fading from the tips by the end of 2nd day. There was one small chip after 24 hours. It didn't smudge and was not messy. If you don't expose your hands so much to water and detergent, it will safely stay longer on your nails.

It has the typical strong nail polish smell. The Fan brush helps in covering each nail in just a single stroke. So the brand claim is quite valid here. It does dry in less than 1 min, which is what I really loved, because I do not have the patience to wait while my nail paint dries.

I personally found that the fan brush works better and the polish dries quicker without the base and top coats.

MedPlusBeauty.com Shopping Experience Review

This is a review of the Indian online Shopping Portal MedplusBeauty.com, which is a part of MedPlus, one of India's famous healthcare retail chain.
medplusbeauty reviews
I started shopping with them in April 2012. There was a Facebook update about a direct contact form. I wrote to them through that form about non-availability of the Chambor Waterproof Eyeliner pencil in Black, which always showed out of stock. They went out of the way and procured me that item and won me over as a permanent customer. This is the first place where I look for any personal care or makeup item I want to buy.

MedPlusBeauty.com shopping Experience
Website: When I started shopping with them, no other online shopping portal was offering as much discounts as them. So it was a supersaver shopping experience but the website was quite primitive and killed some of the thrill. The search results were poor, all items were not properly linked to brands, and some products would have the ‘buy’ button missing.

They have recently revamped the website and 95% of the problems are gone. I still find some important misses but the browsing experience has hugely improved. So a big Thumbs up there!

'Add to wishlist', 'Product Request' and 'Order Tracking' features have recently been added. I can now use the 'Track my Orders' link on the home page and can get my courier tracking code, without having to log in.

Virtual Studio: Medplusbeauty.com was the first to introduce the concept of a Virtual Studio, where you can try out cosmetics on your uploaded photograph, before buying it. They also had a Virtual Makeover Contest this year in May and gave out a Mega Prize worth INR 25K. Now some other websites have also added Virtual Studios.

Brands Available: They have 400+ brands starting from small soap brands to premium brands like Givenchy, Giovanni, Estee Lauder, Make Up Forever and MANY more.

Product Categories: They sell both professional and premium ranges of skin care, hair care and makeup products. Other categories are: Beauty accessories, Personal Care, Mother & Baby, Nutrition and Healthcare. There are many sub-categories under each. I always use the ‘Browse by Brands’ feature when the search box doesn't help.
MedPlusBeauty.com shopping categories
Shopping Rewards: Besides great discounts, Medplusbeauty.com rewards your shopping through ‘Valueplus Rewards Programme’. Most of the items have ValuePlus points attached to them. It shows you the total accumulated every time you place an order. Points are updated around a week after placing the order and can be redeemed for certain gifts.

Discounts: Medplusbeauty.com used to offer up to 50% discount on selective products and a minimum of 15% discount almost every item. After revamping the website recently, the prices on many products have gone really high. While they still offer the 15% discount on many products, most of the other products have become at par with other online shopping portals.

They also give out huge discounts from 10% to 60% on selected high-end brands during their clearance sale a few times a year. People shop like crazy and most products go out of stock within minutes. Just subscribe to their newsletter and you will receive the coupons in your email.

Update on Jan 10, 2012: You can now view the discount coupon under 'Hot Offers'. They have added 'Free Samples'. You can choose one free sample for every INR 500 you spend and they are improving on the samples every few days. For other great offers check 'Hot Offers'.
medplusbeauty.com discount coupons and offers

Customer Service: Customer service has always been polite and helpful. All my emails are mostly answered within a day and sometimes through a callback. Once, one of the products I had ordered was near expiry date and they called me to offer a coupon for the same amount for next shopping. I preferred a refund and they immediately issued it. I even check with them on mfg and expiry dates before buying and they always let me know.

Shipping: Shipping is free on orders of INR 400 (earlier it was INR 350) and above. COD is available in limited cities and I prepay for my orders. Prepaid orders are sent through premium courier service like Bluedart etc.

UPDATE (Jul 26, 2013): Shipping Policy has changed. Here's is the new shipping policy for medplusbeauty.com:
For customers in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi/ NCR and Mumbai: Free shipping on Prepaid orders above Rs 600. For COD orders, Rs 50 handling charges, irrespective of the bill amount.

All other cities: Shipping charge is based on products' weight. Rs 50 for first 500 gms of products' weight. PLUS Rs 30 for every additional 500 gms

They have a 15 days return policy. Read the ‘Returns and Cancellations’ Policy HERE.

Packing: Packing is foolproof. Similar sized items are clubbed together and bubble-wrapped into one bundle. Liquids are properly sealed to avoid spillage. The bubble-wrapped bundles are cushioned with a lot of thermocol pieces from all sides. So far, I have received all orders intact, touchwood!

Newsletters: I have subscribed to their newsletters. They don’t spam customers. I receive an e-mail only on order confirmation, when there is an offer on certain products or when they generate coupons on special occasions.

Blog: They also came up with their own beauty blog this year.

Some Minuses:

They don’t have a toll free number.

They take quite long to restock out of stock items. Sometimes it is also because a product has been discontinued.

So far all of my big orders go to medplusbeauty.com. I hope they keep up the service and shopping standard and not slip down the graph over time, like some other online shopping portals. But I am really unhappy about the change in their shipping policy from Jun 2013 (updated above).

Contact Lenses and MakeUp

I remember years ago when someone would get a new pair of contact lenses, the doctor would definitely tell them two things: Do NOT wear eye makeup and do NOT keep long nails. We have come quite far from those times and both contact lenses and makeup have evolved much since then.
Contact lenses, Nails and Eye Makeup
If you wear soft contact lenses (I don't know anybody who still wears the old conventional hard lenses), you can definitely wear eye make-up. Just make sure to follow these basic tips and rules for the most comfortable and healthy experience with eye makeup:

THE DOs:
  • Wear your contact lenses BEFORE you start applying makeup and remove them BEFORE you start removing makeup. Most contact lens advertisements show models with heavy eye-makeup inserting lenses, which is a wrong representation. Lenses: FIRST IN FIRST OUT.
  • If you like to wear makeup on your waterline, please do some good research before buying your eye-makeup. Use only opthalmologically tested eye makeup on waterline.
  • Do not use liquid eyeliner on waterline as it may get into the eye when wet and may also get under the lens if it flakes on drying.
  • Use oil-free and fragrance-free eye makeup. Do NOT use eye pencils/Kajals that emit fumes and make your eyes water.
  • Avoid wooden eye pencils that require sharpening. The sharp wooden edges may tear your lenses while applying makeup and you won't even come to know. Use twist up pencils (Eg Chambor stay on waterproof eyeliner pencil) or makeup brushes to apply makeup.
  • Use waterproof mascara and eyeliner even though it requires extra time to remove and also a makeup remover. I personally prefer waterproof eye makeup as it does not get into your eyes even if you happen to get wet or if you are the emotional kinds who cries a lot;)
  • Apply eye shadow and liner gently, so you don't put pressure on your eyelid ending up damaging your lenses.
  • Try applying mascara, starting from a little far from the base of lashes. Avoid mascaras with lash-building formula as they contain nylon fibres which may wither and fall into the eyes, scratching both the eye and the lenses.
  • Use a good eye shadow primer to make your eye shadow stay longer and to prevent eye shadow particles from falling into the eyes.
  • Replace eyeliner and mascara every three months. Most eye makeup is anyways meant to be used within 3-6 months of opening but people usually keep using it for longer, which is not good.
  • Always use clean hands to apply eye makeup to prevent eye infections and store makeup in a cool, dark place away from dust.
  • If you wear contact lenses first thing in the morning till very late in the night, don't use oil based makeup remover as the oil remains in the eye and eyelids and may cause blurry vision and also deposit on lenses.
  • Remove all eye makeup every day using a hypoallergenic and oil-free makeup remover, no matter how tired you are.
  • Try to place your dressing table/ makeup mirror in a well-lit area so you do not have to widen your eyes to be able to see clearly while applying eye makeup.
  • Never ever touch the tip of the lens solution bottle while doing makeup or otherwise as this may contaminate the solution.
Contact lenses and Eye Makeup

MAKEUP DON'Ts
  • Don't wear eye lenses and eye makeup if your eyes are red, swollen, watering or infected.
  • Don't share eye makeup.
  • Don't share contact lenses.
  • Avoid powder makeup or non-opthalmologically tested products on your waterline.
  • Do NOT wear your lenses when you go to a hair salon. Any fumes from the sprays used there can damage your lenses.
  • Do NOT wear your lenses when getting your hair colored, permed or any other chemical treatment.
  • Do NOT use aerosols (hairspray, deodorants etc.) with your eyes open, when wearing lenses. Just close your eyes when spraying and immediately move away from that room as the aerosol particles will remain in the air for some time after the spray.
  • Do NOT wear lenses with freshly applied nailpaint on your fingers, if your nail paint smells highly of chemical fumes. Or apply nailpaint after wearing lenses.
What to do if you experience redness/irritation?

Take off your lenses immediately. Causes of irritation could be:
  • Torn or broken lens
  • Make-up or eyelashes trapped under your lens
  • High level of protein deposits or makeup debris on your lenses
  • Prolonged wear beyond the recommended hours (particularly for conventional yearly lenses and not for disposable lenses)
  • Dryness in the eyes because of working in dry weather conditions or sitting long hours in front of computer.
Feel free to go to a doctor if problem still persists.

GOOD NEWS FOR CONTACT LENS WEARERS:

Do you know that people who wear contact lenses can actually do their eye makeup more confidently and comfortably, since they will have a very steady hand at that as compared to people who don't wear lenses?
Contact lenses and Eye Makeup

Human body is designed such that when an object or your hand approaches near your eyes, the eyes send signals to the brain that a 'foreign' body is approaching and brain tells the eyelids to shut and protect the eyes. This is why hands shake and eyelids flutter when you try to apply eyeliner and many women are not able to apply neat eyeliner because of this.

When people are trained to wear contact lenses, the eyes slowly adapt to the hand coming near the eyes and putting the lenses inside. So they stop seeing your hand as a 'foreign' body and no longer 'react' when you bring your hand near your eyes to do eye makeup :)

WHAT TO DO IF EYELINER OR EYE MAKEUP GETS INTO EYES?

If ever eyeliner or eye makeup gets into your eyes and under the lens, and also smears your lens, remove the lens immediately. Wipe clean the eye with a cloth/towel dipped in clean water. Do not dash water into the eye to avoid the rest of the makeup getting into eyes.

Clean the lens with lens solution. If the eye is still watering a lot, try wearing the lens again only after some time gap.

Call your eye care professional if you have any redness, pain, swelling or irritation.

CONTACT LENSES AND LONG NAILS:

Contact lens wearers are asked NOT to keep long Nails though I do NOT know a single woman who would like to agree to that :) If you like to keep long nails, please take extra care and patience while cleaning, rinsing and wearing/removing your lenses. Nails can damage/cut your soft lenses. Sometimes there is such a minute damage in the outer circumference of the lens that you can't even figure out but it stings like needles in the eyes. So please be careful even if it is like second nature to you.

OPTHALMOLOGICALLY SAFE EYE MAKEUP:

Maybelline eye-makeup is good and cheaper, but it is not opthalmologically tested and also stings on the waterline, therefore unsafe for contact lens wearers. A few Revlon products also sting eyes badly (Eg Revlon Fabuliner).

Many good brands (L'Oreal, Chambor etc.) make opthalmologically tested eye makeup which is safe for contact lens wearers, just do your research. Read many product reviews before buying eye makeup. It definitely pays.

Please share any other valuable points you know of. Thanks for reading!

Contact Lens Handling & Care and some DOs and DON'Ts

Over the past 8 years, I have observed different lens care handling habits (good and bad) in different people and have also seen some colleagues battle with continuous eye infections. So I am going to share my knowledge and observations on the subject, based on real life experiences (my own and others'). Hope this post helps in making your contact lens-wearing experience more comfortable. Do not miss the DOs and Don'ts at the end!
Contact lens handling and care

Read my post on contact lenses and makeup HERE.

CLEANING CONTACT LENS CASE:

How to clean your contact lens case?

Clean your lens case thoroughly every 2-3 days using a baby toothbrush and a non-oily non-moisturizing soap. Make sure to clean the case, the caps, the bridge joining the left and right lens pots and the rings on the case and cap too.

Rinse clean with warm water (or clean with normal water and soak in warm water for a few minutes). Leave on any clean surface to dry in air (dries in 5 minutes or so). This will help remove any bacteria film buildup on your lens care (suggested to me by a Bausch and Lomb officer many years ago).

Keep your lens case in a place away from dust.

CONTACT LENS CARE ROUTINE:

When you buy a pair of contact lenses, the medical practitioner is supposed to train and educate you thoroughly on contact lens handling and care. Your contact lens care routine includes Cleaning, Rinsing, Disinfecting and Storing your lenses. You just need one multipurpose lens solution to do all these for you. On your part, all YOU need to take care of is HYGIENE.

CONTACT LENS MULTIPURPOSE SOLUTIONS:

The most popular multipurpose lens solution brand is Renu from Bausch and Lomb. Renu Fresh is for yearly lenses as it contains Hydranate to clean protein build up, which is a main problem with long-wear/yearly lenses. Renu Sensitive is recommended for people who use disposable lenses. The less the wear time of lenses, the less the protein buildup. Renu sensitive does not contain anything for protein cleaning and is gentler than Renu Fresh. To know more about the common ingredients in these two, see THIS article.

Bausch and Lomb Bio true and Renu

The latest addition to the family is Bio True, which is actually extremely gentle. I feel some irritation when I use Renu Fresh, but bio true contains ingredients that soften your eye lenses making them more comfortable to wear. Contact lenses can be stored in Biotrue multi-purpose solution for up to 30 days in an unopened lens case. If stored longer than 30 days between two wears, lenses will again need to be cleaned and disinfected prior to use.

There are more brands in the market like Silklens, Puresoft, Optifree REPLENISH and Complete. I have used 'Complete' many many years ago but so far Bio True is the best for me.

A small percentage of lens wearers may be allergic to the chemicals present in contact lens solutions. If that is the case, check with your doctor for preservative-free lens solutions.

EYE WETTING DROPS

Based on your eyes' tear production capability or your work habits (people who work long hours in front of the computer), your doctor may suggest you to use moisturizing eye drops, which are specifically available for people who wear contact lenses. If your eyes dry out very often making you uncomfortable within a few hours of wearing lenses, check with your doctor for such lubricating drops.

CONTACT LENS HANDLING

DOs:
  • Always Wash your hands before you start wearing your soft lenses as dirt, germs, moisturizer or even sunscreen can cause stinging or other problems.
  • Use a normal non-oily/non-moisturizing soap.
  • Wipe hands with a lint-free towel. Find a couple of lint-free small hand towels that you can keep separately for this purpose only.
  • Rinse your lenses every time before you wear them and also when you put them back in the lens case.
  • Every time you wear lenses, discard the solution in the lens case. Pour in fresh solution when you put the lenses back in the case at night. Do NOT "top-up" by pouring some fresh solution in the old used solution in the case.
  • If you are not going to wear your lenses for a few days, make sure to change the solution every 2-3 days (recommended time is everyday), Exception: Bio True Solution. I have seen most girls use the same solution for days on even when they are wearing the lenses daily. Poor hygiene is the main reason behind serious eye infection from lenses. I even know a colleague who always had an eye infection every couple of days and still won't bother to rinse her lenses or wash her hands before wearing them. But if you value your eyes, so can spend an extra minute here.
  • If you have long nails, please take extra care while handling your lenses since nails can damage/cut your soft lenses. Sometimes there is such a minute damage in the outer circumference of the lens that you can't even figure out but it stings like needles in the eyes. So please devote an extra minute there.
  • When travelling, always keep an extra pair of lenses (if you wear disposable lenses) or keep your eye glasses (if you wear yearly lenses) for emergency.
  • Always carry your lens case and a small lens solution bottle in your handbag wherever you go. At any hint of itching or irritation, feel free to remove and store your lenses in the lens case and switch to glasses (your preference). Your vision is more important than your looks.
SOME IMPORTANT DON'Ts:
  1. Do NOT wear contact lenses and makeup if your eyes are swollen, red or infected.
  2. Do NOT store away your lenses in plain or salty water at night just out of laziness.
  3. Do NOT share contact lenses or contact lens solution.
  4. Never touch the tip of your contact lens solution bottle.
  5. I have known many girls who pop in contact lenses in the eyes, the moment they wake up, without caring to wash their hands. This is another bad habit that often leads to redness and irritation. Wearing your glasses for a few minutes won't harm, till you clean up to wear lenses.
  6. Do NOT wear lenses during swimming, bathing, sauna, spa or hot tub treatments and also in the rain, in short avoid bringing your lenses in contact with water. Also, the chlorine in swimming pool water may permeate through your lenses causing extreme discomfort, besides the risk of bacterial or microbial infections from pool water.
  7. Do NOT share eye-makeup. Very very important. At times people take it personally when you refuse to share your makeup. I have faced it many times. Just tell them firmly yet politely "Sorry, I don't share my makeup or comb".
  8. Do NOT apply normal eyeliner to your eye's waterline. Always use good quality, waterproof and opthalmologically tested eye makeup.
  9. Do NOT wear your lenses when you go to a hair salon. Any fumes from the sprays used there can damage your lenses.
  10. Do NOT wear your lenses when getting your hair colored, permed or getting any other chemical treatment.
  11. Do NOT use aerosols (hairspray, deodorants, room freshener sprays, strong perfumes etc.) with your eyes open, when wearing lenses. Spray and move away from that place for a few minutes till aerosol particles in the air have dispersed. Or wear your lenses quite some time after applying a hair spray or perfume.
  12. Do NOT wear lenses with freshly applied nail paint. In short, do NOT wear lenses in any place where they may be exposed to chemical fumes/gases (Eg. A room with freshly painted walls or furniture, with stinging paint fumes)
  13. Do NOT wear contact lenses (especially tinted or colored ones) when undergoing any treatment or surgery that involves radiations like laser etc. Such radiations can pass through the lenses and transfer the color pigments from the lenses to your retina leading to complications.
  14. This last one is out of experience :) Do NOT wear lenses after chopping green chillies as the 'sting' remains on your fingertips hours after you had chopped chillies and even washed your hands several times. If you do, your lenses will sting and water your eyes for 2-3 days once this thing gets to the surface of your lenses.
Hope the information above is helpful. Any value adds to this are welcome in the comments below.
